Electrochemical Study on the Change in Valency of Niobium Oxide in the MnO-SiO2-Nb2O5 System

摘 要:<正> Change in valency of Nb-oxide in MnO-SiO2-Nb2O5 system was studied with the electrochemical method using ZrO2 asthe solid electrolyte.Thermodynamic analysis has shown that the only possible reaction that could take place at the working elec-trode is:2(Nb2O5)=2(Nb2O4)+O2 with the a0 values experimentally evaluated,values of a Nb2O:/a Nb2O:were calculated andisoactivity-ratio curves drawn in MnO-SiO2-Nb2O5 triangles at 1418 and 1585K.The simultaneous existence of tetra-andpenta-valent Nb mineral constituents in industrial Nb-bearing slags was thus verified experimentally.
