Abstract: An inducation coil and separator were designed and manufactured according to the numerical simulation results of electromagnetic separation of inclusions from molten aluminum. The length of coil is 250 mm and the turn number is 125. The height of coil is 100 mm and the turn number is 2; the width of coil is 100 mm and the turn number is 2. The distance between two coils is 40 mm. The measurement of inner cavity of separator is 80 mm×20 mm×80 mm and the measurement of separating channel is 37.5 mm×20 mm×80 mm. The experiment of electromagnetic separation of inclusions from molten aluminum was conducted. The experiment results show that efficient separating inclusions from aluminum is gained when the molten aluminum temperature is about 740 ℃,the separating time is more than 3 min, the coil current is 20 A.
