Ultrafine eutectic Ti_xSn_y/TiNi composites with high damping capacity

摘 要:Three kinds of bulk-type ultrafine TixSny/TiNi (TixSny represents Ti3Sn, Ti2Sn, and Ti5Sn3 or Ti6Sn5) composites with homogeneous eutectic microstructure were prepared by arc melting. The composites exhibit high damping capacity (tan greater than 1×10-2) and enhanced mechanical strength (the highest fracture strength is 2.15 GPa). The damping capacity originates from TiNi and Ti3Sn, while the eutectic contributes to the mechanical strength.
