Abstract: The friction and wear behaviors of Al2O3p/ZA27 composites at elevated temperature were investigated with SRV friction and wear testing machinery, SEM and EDS in the present work. Results show that the mass lose of Al2O3p/ZA27 composites worn under the condition of boundary lubrication at 150 ℃ decreases by 0.00534 g in comparison with the matrix ZA27 alloy. The friction coefficient of Al2O3p/ZA27 composites at 150 ℃ decreases with increasing the volume fraction of ceramic particle, i.e. Al2O3p. When the volume fraction of ceramic particle ranges from 10% to 30%, the friction coefficient of the composites at 150 ℃ will be lowed from 0.142 to 0.132 which are all more than that of ZA27 alloy. The failure modes of friction and wear of the composites at elevated temperature are all plowing groove and fatigue stripping.
Friction and wear behaviors of Al2O3/ZA27 composites at elevated temperature
Abstract:
The friction and wear behaviors of Al 2O 3p /ZA27 composites at elevated temperature were investigated with SRV friction and wear testing machinery, SEM and EDS in the present work. Results show that the mass lose of Al 2O 3p /ZA27 composites worn under the condition of boundary lubrication at 150?℃ decreases by 0.005?34?g in comparison with the matrix ZA27 alloy. The friction coefficient of Al 2O 3p /ZA27 composites at 150?℃ decreases with increasing the volume fraction of ceramic particle, i.e. Al 2O 3p . When the volume fraction of ceramic particle ranges from 10% to 30%, the friction coefficient of the composites at 150?℃ will be lowed from 0.142 to 0.132 which are all more than that of ZA27 alloy. The failure modes of friction and wear of the composites at elevated temperature are all plowing groove and fatigue stripping.
