Chlorination of Nb-Bearing Slag from Baotou Hot Metal and Mechanism on Its Demanganification

摘 要:<正> Nb-bearing slag from Baotou hot metal was chlorinated in the solid state with molten CaCl2 under vacuum,96~98% MnO or FeO being thus volatilized.By reducing the chloridized residue under addition of flux,ferroniobium withabout 60% Nb was successfully made.Kinetic study of chlorination of synthetic MnO-Nb2O5-SiO2 andFeO-Nb2O5-SiO2 slag systems was conducted,and a non-reacting core model for the demanganification with free useof activity was formulated and the rate-controlling step was explained.
